Fundraiser supporting "Stop Soldier Suicide"
Help us save the lives of those who fought for our country.
We lose 22+ Veterans/Active Duty every day to suicide. Your donations and fundraisers will help us continue to increase the capacity of our Contact Center so someone is always there for Veterans who reach out in their darkest hour of need.
Stop Soldier Suicide was founded in 2010 amid the worst suicide crisis our military has ever seen.
While on active duty, our now-CEO Brian Kinsella encountered military suicide firsthand. Within a few months of his first assignment, one of his own Soldiers attempted to take her own life. The suicide attempt was unsuccessful, but it made a lasting impact. Later, a fellow Soldier took his life only days before a deployment and Brian knew something had to be done.
Concerned about the mental health implications of military service and the increasing military Service member suicide rate, Brian, along with two Veteran friends, Nick Black and Craig Gridelli, founded Stop Soldier Suicide in 2010. They continued to bring on more fellow Veterans and active-duty Service members as volunteers to fill out the team and in 2014 our Triage Director, Shawn Jones, retired USAF and Army, was hired to work fulltime to further our cause.
A national and local network helping curb the epidemic rate of military suicide.
Our organization has created a unique national and community-based network of volunteers andpartner organizations and resources, inside and outside of the military, providing a range of solutions for active-duty Service members, Veterans and family members.
We’re also leading awareness and outreach campaigns to change the way our country thinks about mental health care and the stigma of receiving treatment. We’re committed to helping our brothers and sisters in arms get the help they need, without shame or fear of career repercussions.
We are not a crisis center and we do not offer direct clinical or counseling services or funding. We provide a variety of resources for whatever might be triggering suicidal ideations. We use a evidence-based model to fulfill that mission with assessment and triage, referral services and follow up.
